Do we know how to construct a building? Of course. But there is so much more to a project than just the actual construction. At Houchin Construction, our knowledge extends to all phases of your project. As both a general contracting and architectural firm, we are able to develop “buildable,” cost-effective designs. We know how to organize and coordinate people and information to streamline the design and building processes. We know what is needed from each member of the project team, when it is needed, and how to communicate those needs.

Houchin History

  • 1962

    Harold Houchin moves to Naples and starts Houchin Steel, fabricating and erecting metal buildings.

  • 1960’s

    Harold Houchin sets up the first fabrication shop, located in one of the old Army barracks at Naples Airport.
    Gene Houchin comes to work with his father, Harold.

  • 1970’s

    Houchin Street is named, in honor of Harold Houchin, who built the first building on the street.
    Bob Houchin comes to work with his father and grandfather.

  • 1978

    Upon Harold’s retirement, Gene incorporates as Gene Houchin Construction, Inc., expanding the business to include general contracting as well as metal buildings. Bob Houchin becomes a Co-Owner and Vice President.

  • 1980’s

    Mike O’Dean moves to Naples and comes to work with Gene and Bob.
    Name is changed to Houchin Construction, Inc., and Mike becomes a Co-Owner and Vice President.

  • 1990’s

    Tommy Houchin starts working part time with his father and grandfather.
    Gene Houchin retires.

  • 2000’s

    The current office is built on Industrial Blvd.

  • 2006

    Tommy returns full time as Project Manager after receiving his degree in Construction Management from the University of Florida.

  • 2013

    Tommy Houchin becomes the 4th generation owner.

  • 2017

    Josh Valle becomes a Registered Architect, expanding the Design-Build services by bringing architectural services in-house.
